Our Nito handicrafts are made from Nito vine, or Lygodium, a type of climbing fern found abundantly in the Philippines, particularly from Mindoro and Panay, naturally harvested from trees and rocks in the wild. These vines are flexible yet sturdy, allowing for intricate weaving patterns, with color variations between the outer and inner barks that lend themselves beautifully to decorative items. Nito tablemats, for example, are particularly popular, adding a modern touch to any table. Weaving Nito is a traditional skill passed down through generations- a wonderful way to preserve cultural heritage.
